Roy Goode

Roy Edward Goode, age 74, of Turtletown, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at his home.

Mr. Goode was born May 7, 1947, in Turtletown to the late Hershel Goode and Opal Coleman Goode. He worked for the Tennessee Copper Company for over 21 years, and later, as a laborer for TVA. Mr. Goode served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a long time member of Turtletown Baptist Church.

Mr. Goode is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret J. Goode, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, David and Amy Goode, of Turtletown; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Gary Abercrombie, of Copperhill; grandchildren, Jesse Goode, Jacob Goode, Kaitlyn Goode and Megan Abercrombie; great-grandchildren, Olivia Crawford, Liam Crawford and Melinda Mae Abercrombie; brothers, Hoyt Goode, of Virginia, and Lester Goode, of Blue Ridge; sister, Lois Goode; special friend, Melissa Panter; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 2 p.m. from Turtletown Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Ledford officiating. Music was provided by Jesse Goode and Amy Goode.

Interment followed in the Turtletown Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers, Jesse Goode, Jacob Goode, Kenneth Allen, John Holder, Buford Kidd and Luke Hall. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Nix, Lynn Cheek and Gary Abercrombie.
