UPDATE: [10/31/19 - 6:45 p.m.]: The Fannin County Sheriff's Department reports that the suspect wanted in the armed robbery of the B.P. station on Highway 5 is in custody. See the Nov. 6 issue of The News Observer for more details.

Fannin County authorities are asking the public's help in identifying a suspect who robbed the BP gas station on Blue Ridge Drive (Highway 5) Saturday afternoon, October 26.

Investigations Captain Justin Turner of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office said the robbery took place around 2 p.m.

The suspect entered the store and shopped for several minutes before pulling a mask over his face. He then approached the clerk, brandishing a small caliber revolver.

The suspect got away with approximately $500 in cash.

He fled and headed north on Highway 5 in a green Dodge Dynasty or Plymouth Acclaim. The car is described as an older model, four-door sedan, in good condition. It would have been manufactured somewhere between 1989 and 1995.

Turner described the suspect as a white male, average height with a stocky build, with light brown hair and a scruffy, unshaven face. At the time of the robbery, he was walking with a slight limp. He is believed to be in his mid-20s to early-30s.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office at 706-632-2044.
