“Chig” Morris Jackson Jones, age 77, of Copperhill, went to be with his Lord and Savior, while surrounded by his family Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Tennova Hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Morris was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jerry and Rosa A. Jones; and sisters, Irene Jones and Hazel Collins. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Murphy, North Carolina. Morris served a two-year term in the United States Army, 9th Infantry in Saigon, Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. He received the good conduct medal in the Army.

Morris was part of the Copper Basin High School graduating class of 1962. He was voted best all-around young man for his graduating class. As an adult, he worked for the Tennessee Copper Company for 33 years.

He was a devoted husband for 56 years to his wife, Rose, and loving father to his four children and an amazing papaw to his eight grandchildren. He enjoyed being with family and friends.

He also loved to make people smile.

Morris had a very unique loving heart and a giving spirit. He always sought to help others and be a friend to those in need by showing God’s love. His favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.” His desire was to see his friends and family in Heaven with him.

Morris is survived by his loving wife, Rose Jones, of Copperhill; sister, Dollene Jordan, of Richmond, Indiana, and four children, Tammy Brooks, of Murphy, North Carolina, Tina Taylor, of Coker Creek, Tennessee, Tonya Wallace, of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Jack Jones, of Sweetwater, Tennessee; sons-in-law, Mark Brooks, of Murphy, and Rev. Kenny Taylor, of Coker Creek; daughter-in-law, Hannah Jones, of Sweetwater, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, David Brooks, Lauren Brooks, Kaitlin Gray, Stone Gray (adopted grandson), Noah Wallace, Eli Wallace, Wilder Jones, Ford Jones and Barrett Jones; and two nephews, Brian Collins, of Copperhill, and Michael Jordan of Richmond.

Morris was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He has run the race and is now resting in Jesus with a glorified body where there is no more suffering, pain nor sorrow and where all of his treasures are in heaven.
