John Barker

Mr. John Earl Barker, age 77, of Copperhill, Tennessee, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born November 23, 1944, in Epworth, Georgia.

He was the son of the late Wilford and Ola Locke Barker. John was a Mountain View Baptist Church member and had retired from Tennessee Chemical Company, where he worked as a boilermaker for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time in the mountains, and being with family and friends.

John is survived by his daughter, Sherri Barker Walker, of Morganton;  son Keith (Lori) Barker, of Copperhill, and two granddaughters, Lauren (Cody) Bamforth, of Cartersville, Georgia, and Savanah (Brandon) Smith, of Turtletown. Great-grandchildren include Beau, Zoe, and Colton Bamforth, of Cartersville, Georgia. Siblings include Gene (Joyce) Barker, of Copperhill; Patricia (Charles) Payne, of McCaysville; and Scott (Angila) Barker, of Copperhill;  many special nieces and nephews, friend Judy Buntin, and faithful pets Bull and Cooney.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Frankie Barker; sister, Mary Ellen Barker; and his dearest love, Vicki Bice.

Funeral Services were held Friday, September 23, 2022, at 2 p.m. from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating.
