Mrs. Viola “Mae” Waters, age 84, of McCaysville, Georgia, passed away October 22, 2022 in the Pruitt Health in Jasper, GA.

She was a native of Fannin County and was born on May 1, 1935. She had lived and worked in Dalton for nearly forty years until after her marriage to Herbert Waters and spending the rest of her life in McCaysville.

Mae loved cats, working her word search puzzles and talking to her friends and family on the phone. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius Bert and Fannie Ethel Millsaps Weeks; two husbands, Edwin Morgan and Herbert Waters; siblings, Mary Bell Weeks Queen, William “Bill” Weeks, Herbert Hoover Weeks, Ralph Jackson Weeks and Lewis Thomas Weeks; four nephews and one niece.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Carolyn Prince, Katherine Dyer, James Howard Queen, Magdalene Ward, Frances Farist and Charles Allen Queen, Vernon Weeks and Kenny Weeks; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Earnestine Waters, Lorene Pless and Tommy Waters; special friends, Carolyn Shuler and Mary Lou Ledford; great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 2 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Copperhill Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Hicks and the Rev. Tim Day officiating. Music was provided by Back to Bethany. Interment followed in the Mt. Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Michael Dyer, Richard Daves, Jamie Queen, Justin Holloway, Anthony Watkins and Jason Watkins. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Daniel Shuler, Jimmy Holloway, Nathaniel Tipton and Kevin O’Neal.

The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday after noon but especially from 4 p.m. until  8 p.m.
