The Copperhill City Council voted to accept a $250,000 Community Development Block Grant for water system improvements. 

Students and faculty of Copper Basin Elementary School released approximately 400 balloons Wednesday, Jan. 11, to honor Midge Stone, who passed away Jan. 8 after serving as secretary at CBES for 14 years.

Fannin County Recreation Director Eddie O’Neal

Eddie O’Neal is now the permanent director of the Fannin County Parks and Recreation Department after a vote of the county commission board Jan. 4.


Neoma Lucille Stanley, age 77, of Blue Ridge, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Union County Nursing Home. 

Anna “Lucille” Chambers, age 93, of Morganton, Georgia, passed away Dec. 25, 2016 in the Union County Nursing Home. 

Emma Leona Payne, age 87, of McCaysville, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017.
