A Fannin County man and his attorney were arrested last week after a Pickens County Grand Jury returned an indictment against them.

Students and teachers alike enjoyed Epworth First Baptist’s Vacation Bible School held from June 6 to June 10. The Copper Basin High School boys basketball program will see new leadership for the 2016-2017 season as proven winner Bruce Loudermilk takes over head coaching duties.

The Fannin County High School baseball program wrapped up the summer slate of practices and scrimmages with an inter-squad matchup on Thursday, June 23. 

The inaugural Mike Kimsey Memorial 5K Fun Run & 1 Mile Walk will be held Saturday, July 2, in Ducktown. 

Obituaries

Keaton Weston Long, age 13, of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at his home. 

Elmer B. Van Orsdal, 87, died June 22 at his home. Mr. Van Orsdal was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Jessie Jenkins Van Orsdal. 

Joan Helen Wallace, age 84, of Cumming, Georgia, and formerly of Epworth, Georgia, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Chelsey Park Health and Rehabilitation in Dahlonega, Georgia.
