This is Karen’s epitaph:
I Am Always
I am a steamy cup of coffee
I am a musty antique mall
A barefoot shuffle thru the grass
A two-step and a waltz
I am the crabapple a blossoming
I am fireflies in May
A cold river plunge in August
A lazy hot summer day
I am an Amish doughnut
An apple stack cake
Fresh grilled squash….Fried taters
That my baby did make
I’ve walked amongst the blackest of panthers
Danced with fishes and soared with crows
I’ve worshiped in a sacred hemlock forest
During a profoundly deep and silent snow
Before my birth my children were divinely blessed
By a magical mistress mountain lion
With late night visits to my window
She spoke in growlin’ grumblin’ signs
I am a bright and starry night
And tender hugs meant just for you
I. AM. ALWAYS. WITH. YOU
In everything you do
