Jo Ann Gunter went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home February 3, 2022.

She was born June 10, 1938, to the late Rev. Charlie and Annabelle Martin. Jo Ann retired after 20 years of being a bus driver with Paulding County, Georgia. She was formerly of Mineral Bluff, but raised her children in Paulding. Jo Ann was a selfless woman who always put others first. She could always be found in the kitchen making sure all her guests were well taken care of and fed. Her family was incredibly important to her, and she always made everyone feel right at home and welcome. Jo Ann was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend who will continue to be very loved and deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Herbert Gunter; her parents, Rev. Charlie and Annabelle Martin; her brothers, Jerry Martin and Larry Martin; and her great-granddaughter, Amelia Capps. She is survived by her sons, Doug Gunter, James (Wanda) Gunter, Jason (Alleath) Gunter; her daughter, Crystal (Wayne) Williams; her sister and brother in law, Robert and Patricia Lecroy; grandchildren, Douglas (Lisa) Gunter, Erika (Matt) Turner, Danielle (Josh) Lumpkin, Magan (Gaylon Popham) Hightower, Jessica (Jeremy) Capps, Bethany (Klay) Saxon, Brandon (Jennifer) Murphy, Kaleb (Hailey) Murphy, Ashley Mott, Allyson (Michael) Barber, Madyson Williams; great-grandchildren, Emily, Kaitlyn, and Levi Gunter, Karlie, Kaydence and Raylee Hightower, Addilee, Charlie, and Liam Lumpkin, Khloe and Tinley Capps, Elliott Saxon, Chloe, Grace and Dallas Murphy, Brantley, Daniel, and Wyatt Mott, Sailor and River Murphy, Paislee Barber, Jalin, Asher, and Braylen Popham; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends at Clark Funeral Home Monday, February 7, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services for Mrs. Gunter were held  Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 2 p.m. with Brother John Grant and Brother Joe Dan Wilkins officiating. Interment was at Paulding Memorial Gardens with Douglas Gunter, Brandon Murphy, Kaleb Murphy, Matt Turner, Josh Lumpkin and Klay Saxon serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Levi Gunter, Dallas Murphy, Charlie Lumpkin, Liam Lumpkin, Elliott Saxon, Brantley Mott, Daniel Mott, Wyatt Mott and Jeremy Capps.
