Mr. James Arthur Chancey Jr., age 78, of Turtletown, passed away April 15, 2022, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born in Turtletown, to the late James Arthur Chancey Sr. and Hazel Hughes Chancey June 8, 1943. James was a veteran of the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant serving one term in Korea. James was a retired miner from the Tennessee Chemical Company and was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. Preceding him in death were his parents; a wife, Doris Wilson Chancey; two children, infant, Jimmy Wayne Chancey, and Donald Lynn Chancey; grandson, Matthew Lawrence Chancey; and one sister, Margaret Carter.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Dorothy Kimsey Chancey; daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Tom Loudermilk, of Jasper, Georgia; brother, Gerald Chancey of Turtletown; grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmy and Rebekah Loudermilk and Jarrod and Mindy Loudermilk; great-grandchild, June Marie Loudermilk; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, April 18, 2022, at 4 p.m. from the Zion Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Smith officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Loudermilk, Jimmy Loudermilk, Jarrod Loudermilk, Scott Chancey, Josh Chancey and Gerald Chancey.
