Rev. Harold Gene Weeks, age 74, of Blue Ridge, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022.

He was born in Chattanooga, June 16, 1947, to the late Eugene Vernon Weeks and Minnie Weeks Thomas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for many years for both Tennessee Chemical Company and Mundy’s Heating and Air. He was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church and was the current pastor of Barnes Chapel Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Vernon Weeks and Minnie Weeks Thomas; brother, Rev. Phillip Weeks; infant siblings, Martha and Thomas Andrew Weeks; and brother-in-law, Quinton Helton.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Weeks; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Tim Key; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Karla Weeks; brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Gail Weeks; sister, Linda Helton; sister-in-law, Lynn Weeks; and grandchildren, Chase Key, River Key, Lillie Coffey, Destiny Weeks, AJ Weeks and Eli Coffey.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 2 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Chapel with Rev. Larry Williams officiating.

Interment followed in the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Rodney Weeks, Chase Key, River Key, AJ Weeks, Eli Coffey, Jeremiah Weeks and Mark Griffith. Honorary pallbearers were the Men of Barnes Chapel Baptist Church, Randall Twiggs, Reid Wilson and Glen Barnett.
