Dorothy Lee “Granny Dot” Rogers, age 85, of Blue Ridge, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022.

Dorothy was born April 17, 1936, in Mineral Bluff to the late Olen Davis and Bessie Farmer. She owned and operated Roger’s Furniture, which later became Town and County Furniture. She was very hard working business woman. She made so many friends over the 40 plus years of being in the furniture business. If she wasn’t at the store, she was probably canning food for the family, sewing, gardening or caring for family members that needed help. She was known for always making people laugh.

She had a passion for helping people with special needs. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Frances Kaylor, James Davis and Walter Davis.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Linda (James) Fitts, Glenda Rogers and Donna Whitener, all of Blue Ridge; brother, Waldo (Phyllis) Davis, of Epworth; grandchildren, Julie Queen, Brandon (Graison) Whitener, Kristan (Adam) Weaver, Nathan Fitts and Eric (Alex) Whitener, all of Blue Ridge; and great-grandchildren, Courtney (James) Davies of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Collin (Charity) Queen, of Woodstock, Georgia, Grant Fitts, of Blue Ridge, Logan Fitts, of Blue Ridge, Carley Queen, of Dawsonville, Georgia, Lily Whitener, of Epworth, and Claire Whitener, of Epworth; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 2 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Min. Butch Jones officiating. Music was provided by great-granddaughter, Lily Whitener and Brian Huffman.

Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Colin Queen, Logan Fitts, Grant Fitts, Brandon Whitener, Eric Whitener, Nathan Fitts and Adam Weaver.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mineral Springs Center Inc. that provides services for adult mental disabilities at P.O. Box 28, Blue Ridge, Georgia 30513. The family would like to say thank you to the caregivers at Blue Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care and Pruitt Health Care, of Blue Ridge.
