"Big John" McMahan

John Riley “Big John” McMahan, age 72, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, formerly of Ducktown, passed Tuesday, March 8, 2022, surrounded by his family.

He was a member of the Mine City Baptist Church in Ducktown, 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Appalachian Shrine Club. John was a well-known and respected car dealer and former law enforcement officer.

He is preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Rosa McMahan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Carolyn McMahan; son, David and Krista McMahan; daughter, Tifany McMahan Collins; grandchildren, Riley Collins, Emma Queener and Cooper King; and sister, Ann McMahan, all of Sweetwater.

The family received friends Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Kyker Funeral Homes in Sweetwater, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with the funeral service following at 6 p.m. in Kyker’s Chapel with Rev. Johnny Carr officiating.

Interment was noon on Monday in the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Morganton with Rev. Steve Oneal officiating.

Kyker Funeral Homes, of Sweetwater, was in charge of arrangements.
