Barbara Beaver

Barbara Beaver, age 86, of McCaysville, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021, after a brief illness. 

Barbara married the late Kenneth Beaver in 1960, and they lived together in McCaysville and Riverdale, Georgia, for 38 years. She returned to McCaysville following Kenneth’s death in 1998. She attended the First Baptist Church of Epworth.

Barbara is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Douglas Griffith of Kennesaw, Georgia. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Ashley Montford of Kennesaw; and brother, Thomas Jerry Hyde of Copperhill.

Barbara was a dedicated travel agent and enjoyed planning trips for her clients. Being a travel agent afforded her the opportunity to travel the world. After her return to McCaysville, she enjoyed performing her civic duties by volunteering to work at the polls on election days. Barbara also enjoyed attending senior dances, playing the upright bass in bluegrass bands and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral service were conducted Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at 2 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. 

Interment followed in the Barnes Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, Texas, 75284-0692, www.stroke.org or Colon Cancer Coalition, 5666 Lincoln Drive #270, Edina, Minnesota, 55435.
