BRIDGE CLOSURE ON NEWPORT ROAD

Fannin County Road Department is immediately closing the bridge on Newport Road at Black Ankle Creek Road after state inspectors found the bridge to be deficient. County Commission Chairman Jamie Hensley said a bridge expert will be arriving Tuesday to determine the best way to make repairs, and those repairs will begin as soon as possible. The closing creates an approximate mile and a half detour between the Big Creek and Aska roads areas.
