Thomas “Tommy” Alvin Day, age 54, of Morganton, Georgia, passed away June 2, 2018, in Gainesville, Georgia.
He was born March 29, 1964, in Duluth, Georgia, to the late Wilburn Lee and Ruthie Nell Ingram Day. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alpharetta and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during Desert Storm. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Leigh Day.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Pittman Day of the home; stepsons, Steven and wife Kristi Dilbeck and Cody Dilbeck all of Ellijay, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Gary Cook; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Max and Helen Pittman of McCaysville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Patricia Gilliam of Morganton, Georgia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max Jr., and Tina Pittman of Ducktown, Tennessee; grandchildren, Aspen, Summer and Molly Dilbeck; special friend, Stephanie Pittman; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 4, 2018, at 6 p.m., from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with the Rev. Max Pittman and the Rev. Max Pittman Jr., officiating. Music was provided by Michael Deal.
The following gentlemen were selected to serve as pallbearers: Steven Dilbeck, Cody Dilbeck, Chris Gilliam, Dalton Gilliam, Johnny Doll, Michael Deal and Josh Cook. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
Interment followed in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, June 7, 2018, with Bishop Nolan Ingram officiating. Flowers are acceptable, however donations may be made in honor of Tommy to help defray final expenses.
