Mr. Cony “Roy” Eaton, age 93, of Epworth, passed away June 2, 2019, in the North East Georgia Medical Center. Born January 31, 1926, in Mexico, Maine, he was the son of the late James M. Eaton and Minnie Coffin Eaton.
He was educated in Wilton, Maine, school system. In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in American and European in Asiatic Pacific Theatres of operation with 25 months sea duty. Roy retired to Florida in 1990. He was a past president of the Main Club and bowling league in the Villages of Lady Lake, Florida. He was an avid guitarist and song writer, having written over 165 songs. Roy was a member, trustee and deacon of the Congregational Church of Pittston Maine. He retired from the Teamsters Union in 1983 and later in sales in 1990. He and his wife, Beverly, moved to the North Georgia mountains in 2000. He was currently a member of the of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill. Roy was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly H. Eaton of Epworth; son, Randy Eaton of Pittston, Maine; daughters, Ruth Ann Miller of Tranquility, New Jersey and Robin Sellars of Epworth; five great grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services in Roy’s honor were held Monday, June 10, 2019, from the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill with the Rev. Harry Gilbert officiating. Music was provided by the Rev. Harry Gilbert and Ryan and Holly Norton. Military Honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. For those desiring, memorial contributions can be made to Gideon’s International.
