Oscar C. Henry, age 88, of Blue Ridge, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, at his home surrounded by family and friends following an extended illness. Mr. Henry was born April 11, 1931, and was a lifelong resident of Fannin County. He established the Henry Funeral Home January 1, 1968, serving as the owner and manager for 21 years. After selling the funeral home to the Cochran family in 1989, he established yet another funeral home in Fairmont, Georgia. He served on the Board of Directors at Fannin Regional Hospital and was a 50+ year member of Mineral Bluff Lodge #483 F & AM. He was a member of Toccoa Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the choir. He played a large role in the lives of many residents in Fannin County. He loved serving the public and enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Beulah Davis Henry; and brothers, JP Henry, Emmett Henry, Dan Henry and Thomas Henry.
He was survived by his wife of 36 years, Clara Rose Henry; two daughters, Joyce (Michael) Goolsby of Littleton, Colorado and Janice (Nick) Goggins of Acworth, Georgia; son, Christopher (Kelly) Hulsey of Blue Ridge; five grandchildren, Stacey Wilson, Dustin Lovett, Cory Lovett, Blake Goggins, Kyle Goggins and Harrison Hulsey; six great-grandchildren, Brittany Graham, Bradley Graham, Jonah, June and Jasper Lovett, Hayden Lovett and Kolbie and Knova Goggins; three great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Arzetta Buchanan of Mineral Bluff, Margie Brown of Mineral Bluff, Faye (James) Dillard of Mineral Bluff, Dorothy Conner of Carrollton, Georgia and Jane (Norman) Owens of Buford, Georgia; one brother, Alvin (Joann) Henry of Mineral Bluff; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.
Funeral services were held at Toccoa Baptist Church Thursday, June 27, 2019, with the Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins and the Rev. Jerry Banks officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Watkins, Joel Collis, Brian Huffman and Dixie Aires.
Interment followed at the Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Ballew, Junior Kyle, Blake Goggins, Kyle Goggins, Jim Falls and Steve Cochran. Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
