James Allen Weaver, age 88, of Blue Ridge, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019. He was born October 16, 1930, in Gilmer County and was the son of the late M.L. and Elzie Kirby Weaver.
He was a member of the Blue Ridge Lodge #67 F&AM. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and later worked as a surveyor for the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Mosley Weaver; son, Joe Weaver; and siblings, Cecil Weaver, Max P. Weaver, Joe Weaver, Faye Townsend, Shirley Weaver, Jean Anklowitz and Glenda Weaver.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, John Allen and Robin Weaver; grandchildren, Melissa (Lane) Holloway and Kris (Sara) Weaver; brothers, Roy (Beverly) Weaver and Ray (Melissa) Weaver; nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 3, 2019, from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating.
Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kris Weaver, Lane Holloway, Dakota Crawford, Clay Dawson, Russell Jones and Will Davis. Full military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
