Imea Jean Thomas

Imea Jean Thomas, age 86, of Epworth, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Fannin Regional Hospital. She was born September 28, 1932, in McCaysville to the late William Erskin Jones and Hattie Elizabeth Curbow Jones. 

Imea Jean retired from Levi Strauss and Company as a seamstress. She attended McCaysville Church of God. 

Imea Jean was proceeded in death by her parents; children, Sandra Thomas and Danny Thomas; and sisters, Doris Curtis, Mary Lou Harper, Catherine Flowers, Geneva Queen, Jeanette Rentz and Virginia Lee Jones.

Survivors were her children, Steve (Alice Ann) Jones of Spartanburg, South Carolina and Wilma (Dewayne) Housley of Copperhill; 10 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Nixon of Ellijay, Georgia; and brother, William E. Jones Jr. of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Steve Lamb officiating. Memories were shared by Dewayne Housley and Steve Jones. Music was by Tracey Duez, Dewayne Housley, Beverly Whitmir and Roy Tipton. 

Interment followed in the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Duez, Greg Jones, Scott Jones, Derrick Thomas, Bradley Thomas, Brandon Long, Max Housley, Austin Galloway and Billy Galloway.
