Hugh Hansell Wallace, age 80, of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019, peacefully at his home. Mr. Wallace was born in Ducktown to the late William Shields and Edith Taylor Wallace. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era and later worked and retired from the General Motors Corporation, where he worked as an Assembly Line Worker. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Henrietta Wallace and infant son, Robert Wayne Wallace.
He was survived by siblings, Bob (Cathy) Wallace of Seneca, South Carolina, Jim (Susie) Wallace of Alexa, North Carolina, Shirley (Bennie) Loudermilk of Turtletown; brother-in-law, Paul Ray (Diane) White of Turtletown; sisters-in-law, Jenny (David) Smith of Acworth, Georgia, Diane (Ron) Prince of Hiram, Georgia; several nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 9, 2019, from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with the the Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating.
Interment followed in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jimmy Wallace, Gary Wallace, Terry Smith, Lance Smith, Tim Prince and Ray White.
