Helen Bennett Ledford, age 91, of Blue Ridge, passed away April 3, 2019, at the Life Care Center of Copper Basin.
Born in Fannin County, she was the daughter of the late Amos Levi and Violet Anderson Bennett. She was retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Gilmer County Nursing Home in Ellijay, Georgia, after 25 years of service. Mrs. Ledford was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin McKinley “Sam” Ledford; a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and James Clyde Roberson; and one great grandchild, Ryan Roberson.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Deanne Ledford of Mineral Bluff; sister, Louise Huber of Ducktown; five grandchildren, Tina Roberson, David Roberson, Terri Ledford, Kim Jones and Sammy Ledford Jr.; twelve great grandchildren and sixteen great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 6, 2019, from the New Testament Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Becker officiating. Music was provided by the New Testament Church Choir, Alan Davenport, Pauline White and Deanne Ledford.
Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Barron Adams, Sammy Ledford Jr., Timothy Ledford, Joshua Ledford, Landon Walker and William Butts. Junior White and Freddie Rice were selected to serve as honorary pallbearers. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
