William “Bill” Lee Holden of Dalton, age 68, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019.
Bill was born September 19, 1950, to parents, Lula Jane (Jones) Martin and Leslie Gomer Holden in Copperhill.
He attended West Fannin High School where he graduated in 1968. Bill married his wife and best friend, Rose Mary “Rosie” (Hawkins) Holden in Copperhill in 1971.
After living briefly in Marietta, Georgia, Bill and Rosie relocated to Dalton, Georgia, in 1973 where Bill began his career in the construction industry. Bill owned and operated Bill Holden Construction, Inc. and became well-known in the area for his expertise in operating his 50-ton crane. Bill was an avid car collector and could often be seen driving around in one of the cars from his collection. He was very proud of his children and granddaughter and loved showing photos of them to all.
Bill also enjoyed spending his weekends “over home” in McCaysville, working and visiting with family and friends. Bill’s sons are proud to continue his legacy in the construction industry by operating their dad’s cranes with the same precision that was characteristic of their dad.
