Carl Wendell Burgess, age 80, of Epworth, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020. 

He was born January 11, 1940, in Epworth, to the late Carl Burgess and Gladys Ballew Burgess. Wendell served in the United States Air Force. He later worked as a rigger, ironworker, and in HVAC for the Tennessee Chemical Company. Wendell served as a Deacon at Epworth First Baptist Church. He is also preceded in death by his son, Carl Garryen Burgess. 

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Masters Burgess of Epworth; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian Burgess and Holly of Blue Ridge and Jeremy Burgess and Karen of Gainesville; daughter-in-law, Lesa Burgess; grandchildren, Jordan Motsinger and Kiel, Laina Beaudreau and Braden, Nina Burgess, and Evan Burgess; great-grandson, Holden Motsinger; and sisters, Lillian Tatum and Faye Bilodeau.

Graveside funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 12, 2020, from the Epworth First Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan and the Rev. Chris Clark officiating. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
