The 2020 Toys for Tots Campaign for Fannin County has officially begun.

Conducted by local Marine Corps League Detachment 1438, the campaign will run through December 24.

Local Toys for Tots Coordinator Cheryl Jordan believes this year’s campaign will likely be the largest and most challenging campaign ever for Fannin County, stating, “Each year, our campaigns have grown. We expect that due to this unusual year, the demand will be especially large, and we are gearing up to meet it. Our goal is to make sure no reasonable request is unfulfilled.”

Those wishing to make requests can do so now. Requests may be made by going online to the Toys for Tots website at www.toysfortots.com and selecting Fannin County, Georgia, or by filling out request forms at Fannin County Family Connection, which is located at 501 Fannin Industrial Park in Blue Ridge.

Requests will be filled for children ages one through 17.

Marine Corps League Commandant Jim Brumbelow reminds the public that Toys for Tots cannot provide food, clothing or electronic devices.

There will be a number of fundraising events to benefit Toys for Tots this year.

The first is a Toys for Tots night Saturday, November 5, at The Black Sheep Restaurant.

There will also be an annual Friday after Thanksgiving event at Grumpy Old Men Brewing with entertainment, food and Santa Claus, an ice skating night at Inola Friday, December 4, and a benefit car show at Blue Ridge Circuit World Sunday, December 6.

Additionally, there will be over 50 collection boxes for toys spread throughout the county at local businesses, restaurants, car dealerships and financial institutions.
