Fannin County Fire Chief Larry Thomas has been suspended while authorities investigate an incident involving the chief and another firefighter.

Fannin County Commission Chairman Howell Bruce Jr., said Friday Thomas had been suspended for two weeks with pay.

Thomas is listed as the offender on a Fannin County Sheriff’s Department incident report alleging simple battery. According to the report filed Wednesday by Lt. Tommy Woody, Thomas allegedly grabbed the victim by the upper arm and pulled him outside at Fannin County Fire Station 1 in downtown Blue Ridge July 2 at 9 p.m.

Fannin County Sheriff George Ensley said a verbal argument over a personal matter followed between the two outside the building. He said the case is under investigation and that he expected that investigation to be completed by the end of this week. No charges have been filed at this point.
